Abu Dhabi, J2 - Albon, Marciello et Leclerc en trois centièmes
Les promus du GP3 se sont distingués en ce deuxième jour d'essais GP2 : le vice-champion Alexander Albon et le champion Charles Leclerc se tiennent en trois centièmes en haut de la feuille des temps, prenant Raffaele Marciello en sandwich.

Sur le circuit de Yas Marina, Albon (ART) a tourné en 1'49"062, Marciello (Trident) en 1'49"086 et Leclerc en 1'49"092, ce dernier au volant d'une Prema toute rouge aux couleurs de Ferrari.
Ce matin, c'est toutefois Oliver Rowland qui avait donné le ton en 1'49"675 au volant de sa DAMS, mais le Britannique n'a pas amélioré autant que ses rivaux l'après-midi.
Jordan King prend la quatrième place devant le vétéran Johnny Cecotto Jr et un autre rookie prometteur, Louis Delétraz (Racing Engineering), relégué à moins de quatre dixièmes d'Albon. Le troisième candidat au titre GP3, Antonio Fuoco, est neuvième devant un autre transfuge de l'échelon inférieur, Nyck de Vries.
Pour sa première journée au volant d'une GP2, le prometteur Callum Ilott a signé le 14e temps avec ART Grand Prix. Rappelons qu'il courra chez Prema Powerteam l'an prochain, mais en F3 Europe.
Effectuant un étrange retour en monoplace, Daniel Juncadella, pilote Mercedes en DTM, n'a pas fait mieux que 20e avec Campos.
La journée a été marquée par cinq drapeaux rouges : Charles Leclerc, Daniel Juncadella, Mahaveer Raghunathan et Antonio Fuoco se sont tous immobilisés en piste, l'Italien par deux fois.
