L'Australien Will Power a obtenu la pole position du Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama, troisième manche du championnat IndyCar 2014. Le pilote du Team Penske devance James Hinchcliffe de deux petits centièmes de seconde.
Ryan Hunter-Reay, Josef Newgarden, Scott Dixon et Helio Castroneves étaient les 4 autres pilotes présents en Q3, ils seront dans les places 3 à 6 de la grille de départ.
Pour les Français, les espoirs étaient grands après de bons essais libres mais finalement Simon Pagenaud et Sébastien Bourdais doivent se contenter de la 10e et de la 12e place sur la grille respectivement. Le Manceau était au départ 11e, mais il a écopé d'une pénalité pour avoir bloqué Ryan Hunter-Reay en Q2.
La surprise vient du vainqueur de l'épreuve de Long Beach, Mike Conway, qui ne partira qu'en 21e position, n'ayant pas réussi mieux que le dernier temps de son groupe en Q1. Départ prévu vers 21h00.
