Jérôme D’Ambrosio a signé le meilleur temps de la seconde journée d’essais sur le circuit de Barcelone.
Le pilote belge a réalisé un chrono en 1:27.182 lors de la séance du matin, ce qui lui permet de briser la série de meilleurs temps de Pastor Maldonado.
La session de la matinée a été perturbée par sept drapeaux rouges, dont le premier a été déployé après seulement neuf minutes lorsque Jules Bianchi s’est arrêté dans le virage 4.
A la fin de la matinée, Jérôme D’Ambrosio finit donc en tête devant l’étonnant Christian Vietoris. Toujours en haut de l’affiche, Pastro Maldonado termine au troisième rang devant Fabio Leimer, Jules Bianchi et Sam Bird. Charles Pic termine dixième devant le champion de GP2 Asia 2009-2010, Davide Valsecchi.
La séance de l’après-midi a été beaucoup plus calme, sauf lorsque Marcus Ericsson a percuté les barrières de sécurité à la chicane. Il n’a pas pu reprendre le volant avant la fin de la session.
Fabio Leimer a longtemps été en tête de la séance avant d’être battu par Pastor Maldonado et Jérôme D’Ambrosio. Sergio Perez termine quatrième cette après-midi devant Christian Vietoris, Luiz Razia, Davide Valsecchi, Charles Pic, Dani Clos et Olivier Turvey. Jules Bianchi termine bon dernier à près de trois secondes de Pastor Maldonado.
